Weda Bay, North Maluku, Indonesia
Weda Bay Industrial Park Office Building
Located in the Weda Bay Industrial Park in North Maluku Province, the building is known as "the tallest building in eastern Indonesia". It has 1 basement level and 22 storeys above ground and serves as the landmark office building of the industrial park. Baoye carried out the facade design and installation of the tower.
Challenges
Controlling facade durability in a tropical salt-spray environment, coordinating a cross-border supply chain and organising site work far from the factory.
Technical approach
A frame-supported glass curtain wall with high weather-resistant insulated glass, anti-corrosion aluminium profiles and weather-resistant silicone sealant. Full-process BIM detailed design, an anti-corrosion system for the tropical marine climate, cross-border prefabrication and local construction management.
Outcome
The tower has become the landmark of Weda Bay Industrial Park. The curtain wall system is adapted to the tropical salt-spray environment and meets local durability requirements, and the project established a local construction management model for similar projects in Southeast Asia.
